Clothing & General Sewing

Machine I (daytime)

Learn the fundamentals of using a sewing machine while making a simple throw pillow. No sewing experience is necessary. Sewing machines available or bring your own, start on the right foot. Choose from the following dates:

Basic Sewing 1

Sew an easy skirt and top while learning the fundamentals of fitting, pattern layout, as well as basic construction techniques. This class will start you in the correct direction for future classes. (Homework may be required to complete projects. Knowledge of machine operation is suggested). 

Choose from the following dates.  Each class group total 10 hours of instruction. 

The first two sessions in each group are from 10:00am –12:30pm,  the last session in each group is from 10:00am – 3:00pm. Choose from the following dates.           

         Saturdays, May 4. 11, and 18

OR   Saturdays, June 8, 15 and 22

OR   Saturdays,  July 13, 20 and 27

OR   Saturdays, Aug. 3, 10 and 17

Fee: $100 plus supplies

Learn how to read and lay out a pattern, cut and sew a simple skirt and top.  Choose from the following dates.  Each class group totals 10 hours of instruction. 

The first two sessions in each group are from 10:30am –1:30pm,  the last session in each group is from 10:30am–  2:30pm.  

      Wednesdays, May 15, 22 and 29

or   Wednesdays, June 5, 12 and 19

or   Wednesdays, July 31, Aug. 7 and 14

Intermediate Sewing

Choose from the following dates. Basic Sewing 1 is a prerequisite. Bring in a pattern of your choice for approval of the instructor and then work on your custom project with the instructor’s help. Explore zipper insertion, button holes, and set in sleeves.

The first two sessions in each group are from 10:30am-1:30pm, the last session in each group is from 10:30am-2:30pm.

Class is $100 plus supplies.

Fabric and notions need to be purchased in store.

Wednesdays   Sept. 11, 18 and 25.

Wednesdays   Nov. 6, 13, and 20.

Basic Sewing II & III

We will make a Skirt. The skirt will have a high waist finished with facing, back darts, and center back zipper. Along with front pockets and a back hemline box pleat. (Must have taken the basic sewing class or have knowledge of pattern laying and construction.)

Wednesdays: 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, & 5/29.

Fee: $75 plus supplies.  ( 6:30 – 8:30pm )

Sewing for Baby 

Sew a cute little summer dress or use as a jumper with a t-shirt. Your little one will look simply adorable. This is quick and easy and completely lined! Class fee includes instruction and pattern.

Fashion Design

Learn the fundamentals of fashion design. 

Fridays:  4/12, 4/19, 4/26, 5/3 and 5/ 10.

Make a new pair of PJ pants. After this class, you will be inspired to make yourself a new set of pajamas!

Hoopsisters BOM – Feathered Stars 2013

Hoopsisters Feathered Star Embroidery Block of the Month. Use your embroidery machine to make an entire quilt in your 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 inch hoop. The quilting was digitized by Master Quilter, Sharon Schamber. Quilt can be a Lap up to a King size bed.

Optional Border CD has additional quilt designs.

Stitcher’s Garden #2 – Quilt

Make this quilt measuring 61” x83” while learning various techniques using different feet that are available for your sewing machine.  Make use of those beautiful built in stitches to embellish easy appliqued blocks. This is a 6 month program and includes the patterns and directions.

Fee - $30 per month class

 Dates:  Sundays, 4/21, 5/19, 6/16, 7/21, 8/11, and 9/22  (10:30am –1:30pm )

Beginning Quilting

Have you always wanted to learn to quilt? This is the class for you! You will learn cutting , piecing, layering and basic quilting.

Monday: 7/8, 7/15, 7/22, 7/29 and 8/5   (11:00am – 1:30pm)

Have lots of fun using 1 jelly roll and a background fabric to make this quilt. This class is for intermediate or advanced quilters.

Not sure how to bind the quilt you just finished. You will learn 2 ways to bind your quilt. One requires a special ruler to be purchased from the instructor (at an additional fee). The second one is traditional binding and hand finishing. Both have mitered corners.

This is a great class for a beginner quilter. You will use Trangles to get a perfect half-square Thangle. Thangles to be purchased from the instructor.

Free Motion Embroidery

Learn the art of stitching free motion on your sewing machine to quilt or embellish fabric. You will create a pretty applique square using a large floral print fabric as the fussy cut fused applique, then thread paint the flowers for embellishment, layer with batting and then free motion quilt.

Creative Sensation
Users Class

Engineered Excellence.

Learn how to use the fantastic features in your machine to create a small trapunto cushion designed completely in the machine on the screen. Stitch it out in class and complete the cushion at home. Small Kit fee will apply. Your machine with embroidery arm must be brought to class with two spools of contrasting thread.

If you own the endless hoop for your embroidery machine and don’t know how to use it - This is the class for you. You will make a small table topper with an embroidered border using this essential hoop to your embroidery machine.

Crocheting

You will learn how to read instructions and yarn labels.  Hands on instruction.  Will start you on a scarf.  All you will need is a crochet hook and a ball of yarn.
