May 2010- Class Descriptions

Quilting Block of the Month- Paper Piecing- May 5th- 10:30-11:30-am and 6-7pm- Join Nancy for this wonderful Paper Piecing technique class. This is a great class where you can make perfect points every time! This is an ongoing class offered the first Wednesday of each month. The only requirement is that you purchase the 2 ½ yards of background fabric from us. That's it! Come each month with your finished block and Nancy will give you the pattern for the next one and show you how to do it! Call to join the Quilt Block of the Month Club today!

Quilting Techniques II- McTavishing- May 10^th - 5:30-9:30pm- Fee: $40 + supply list- Join Rose to learn the first four of eight techniques illustrating the new and exciting "McTavishing" quilting technique. Karen McTavish is the creator of these techniques. The techniques you will learn in this class are; Basic and Mini McTavishing, Clam Shell and Curls and Swirls. These techniques are innovative and quite different. Challenge yourself by taking this class and join in on the fun! Quilting Techniques III-McTavishing will be offered in March 2010. Make sure you sign up for both!

Men's Sport Shirt- May 6^th, 13^th, 20^th -6-8:30pm- Fee: $60 + supply list- Make a great shirt in time for Father's day with Maryellen. This continues to be a very popular class and has been brought back to Sewtime. Learn how to set in sleeves, make collars, cuffs and button placket. This is a very informative class for anyone wanting to learn garment construction.

Filter Fan Wall Hanging- May 7^th, 14^th, 21^st- 6-8:30pm- Fee: $60 + supply list- Join Nancy to create this colorful quilt with easy piecing techniques. A basic fan block is used to create movement diagonally across this quilt.

Pfaff/Janome Club- Embellished Laptop Quilted Cover- May 8^th- 11am-1pm- $8 +supply list- Join Barbara K. to make this useless Laptop Cover to protect your machine when you travel. Here is your chance to use those decorative on your machines!

Using the Endless Hoop- Pillow Case- May 15^th -10:30am-3pm-Fee $45 + supply list- Use an ordinary pillow case and your Endless Hoop to create this lovely project. Barbara K. will show you how!

Victorian Roses Embroidered Quilt- April 12^th, May 3^rd, 17^th, June 7^th, 21^st, July 5^th, 19^th- This class will be offered 2x's per day for our customers convenience. Just pick the session you want- 10am-2pm ~OR~ 5:30pm-9:30pm- Fee: $175+supply list - Join Rose to make this gorgeous embroidered quilt top. All the fabric piecing and embroidery is done in the hoop in one easy step! You must order the Anita Goodesign-" Victorian Roses Special Edition" disk for this class. The pack comes with a full color book full of ideas for other projects.

Basic Machine-May 24^th -6-8:30pm- Fee: $30+ supply list- If you have no experience with a sewing machine, take this class now, as it's a prerequisite for all other sewing classes. Learn the fundamentals of using a sewing machine, with Rose, while making an envelope back throw pillow. You will also learn how to use a rotary cutter, rotary cutter mat and quilting rulers. Sewing machines are available to use in class if you do not own one.

Embroidered Heirloom Blessing Gown- June 12^{th -}10:30am-3:30pmand July 3^rd- 10:30am-1:30pm - Fee: $75- Kit Fee: $40- Design Fee: $10 +supply list- - Join Barbara K. to sew a beautiful blessing gown for baby on your embroidery machine. Pattern pieces are created in the hoop and embellished with beautiful embroidery all in one step. Garment will fit 3-9 months. Embroidery machine with 5" x 7" hoop required.
