September Classes

4D Block of the Month-

September 22nd- Fee: $10- 11am-1pm and 6-8pm-

This is a software class featuring 4D Embroidery Suite Software. Join Cathy and Rose to learn how to create an embroidery block in your software that you will save in your laptop and stitch out later. This is an ongoing once a month class. All you need is a laptop with 4D Suite installed and your dongle. You can also come to the class if you do not have a laptop: just bring a pen and paper. There will be handouts at each class. For our customer’s convenience, we are offering a daytime session during the week and a weeknight session.

 September 3rd - Kit fee-$5.00-10:30-11:30am and 6-7pm- Join the Maryellen and Nancy to create a beautiful pieced quilt block featuring our lovely “Veranda” fabric collection by Ro Gregg. Each month a different technique and or block design will be demonstrated. Kits will be available for $5.00 each. For our customer’s convenience, we are offering a day and evening demo on the same day. This is going to be a very popular class so… call early to reserve your seat.

Beginning to Quilt Club-

 Do you want to learn how to quilt? The beginning to quilt series is just right for you. Join Maryellen to learn about fabric choices, threads, pins, rotary cutters, rotary cutter mats, quilting rulers and color theory. This will be an on-going class which will start out with lectures, demos and handouts. The series will evolve into an on-going quilt class which will be project oriented. Jenny Embroidery Guest Towel-

September 22nd  from 5:30 – 9pm

 and same class will be offered again on September 27th  10am-1pm  Fee: $40 + supply list-

Join Rose on the 22nd or Barbara K. on the 27th to create this lovely guest towel for your home. Both Rose and Barbara attended the Jenny Haskins Academy of Accredited Instructors in June and came back with wonderful classes they would like to share with their students. This series of classes will be taught by both teachers on different days and times to accommodate everyone’s schedule. There will be different classes offered each month so check each month’s class schedule. In this class you will learn embroidery design placement, work with a twin needle in embroidery and work with a combined design. The design used in this class will be downloaded into your machine as part of the class fee and will be deleted at the end of the class. When your project is completed and you loved the designs used in class you will be able to order the design disk from Sewtime at a 10% class discount. Floating Diamonds Blouse-

Heirloom Techniques Christening Gown-

September 16th, 23rd and October 7th – Fee: $75 + supply list- This is the class you have been waiting for in garment construction. This lovely skirt and Jacket Ensemble will be taught by Maryellen.  You will learn basic garment construction techniques, how to read a pattern, estimate size and yardage, pressing techniques and cutting techniques. This class will give the student all the basic techniques and knowledge needed to create a wonderful two piece outfit. Sign up soon as this class will fill up quickly. Table Runner and Placemats for the Holidays-

 September 10th, 17th - Fee: $45 + supply list+pattern- 6-9pm- What better way to dress up your dining table than with a matching table runner and placemats set! Join Nancy to learn how to make this lovely set of four placemats and a table runner. You can choose a fabric to match your décor or make this set for the fall or winter Holiday Season. Diamond Tote-

September 12th, 26th – Fee: $45 + supply list + pattern- 6-9pm- Another great tote bag is taught by Nancy. This bag has a surprise closure that you will absolutely love.  A charm pack and some yardage will complete this tote.  Using two blank cloth napkins with crocheted trim, Rose will show you how to create a lovely vintage pillow. You will learn cutwork embroidery, wing needle entredeux, appliqué and reverse appliqué, creating a sachet and putting it all together with a no-sew technique. Included in the class fee is the English cotton netting you will use for the appliqué work. Designs will also be provided by the teacher for class use only. This is a two sided pillow with different techniques on each side. Come in to see the lovely sample.

Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt-

 October 6th,8th,10th –10:30am-12:30pm

 6-8pm Fee: $65-

 We would like to introduce our new quilting teacher, Susan Wright. She comes to us with a great deal of experience in quilting and a past quilt shop owner. In her class students will learn six different basic blocks and their variation that can be made with 2.5 inch strips of fabric. Students will have the option to include embroidery designs or fussy cut patterns within some of their blocks. Teacher will also help students with layout, design and color placement in individual quilts. Pre-class homework- Students MUST have all fabric strips cut and ready to sew prior to class. There will be no cutting of strips at the first class.

Serged Baby Dress-

October 11th  and 18th- 10:30am-12:30pm-

Exploring Trapunto By Machine-

Trapunto has long always been realized as a stuffed quilting technique. An outline was stitched for the area to be stuffed, the fabric was slit from behind and stuffing was meticulously placed between the fabric layers. All you need is a laptop with 4D Suite installed and your dongle. You can also come to the class if you do not have a laptop: just bring a pen and paper. There will be handouts at each class. For our customer’s convenience, we are offering a daytime session during the week and a weeknight session.

October 6th and 20th- Fee- $65- 5:30-9:30pm-

 Using two blank cloth napkins with crocheted trim, Rose will show you how to create a lovely vintage pillow. You will learn cutwork embroidery, wing needle entredeux, appliqué and reverse appliqué, creating a sachet and putting it all together with a no-sew technique. Included in the class fee is the English cotton netting you will use for the appliqué work. Designs will also be provided by the teacher for class use only. This is a two sided pillow with different techniques on each side. Come in to see the lovely sample.

Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt-

 We would like to introduce our new quilting teacher, Susan Wright. She comes to us with a great deal of experience in quilting and a past quilt shop owner. In her class students will learn six different basic blocks and their variation that can be made with 2.5 inch strips of fabric. Students will have the option to include embroidery designs or fussy cut patterns within some of their blocks. Teacher will also help students with layout, design and color placement in individual quilts. Pre-class homework- Students MUST have all fabric strips cut and ready to sew prior to class. There will be no cutting of strips at the first class.

Serged Baby Dress-

This is the class you have been waiting for in garment construction. This lovely skirt and Jacket Ensemble will be taught by Maryellen.  You will learn basic garment construction techniques, how to read a pattern, estimate size and yardage, pressing techniques and cutting techniques. This class will give the student all the basic techniques and knowledge needed to create a wonderful two piece outfit. Sign up soon as this class will fill up quickly.
