Machine I (evening)

Machine 1 Class

Limit: 6 students per class.

Due to the immense popularity of this class, we ask that you call to check and see if the class you wish to take still have space available before signing up.

Supply List: 
- 1/2 yard cotton fabric (no stripes, plaids or checks)
- 14 inch pillow form
- 16 inch polyester All Purpose
- Thread: general purpose, dual
    duty or sew all type thread.
- Straight pins
- Scissor


Learn the fundamentals of using a sewing machine while making a simple throw pillow. No sewing experience is necessary. Sewing machines available or bring your own, start on the right foot. Choose from the following dates.

Basic Sewing 1

Basic Sewing 1 Class


This class teaches the basics of understanding how to purchase a pattern for your body size, how to shorten or lengthen a pattern, read and understand pattern instructions and how to construct the garment. The pattern is a simple skirt and top and all students use the same pattern in class. Supplies are to be purchased at the time of the first class.

Prerequisite : Machine 1 class or Student must know how to use basic skills on a sewing machine.

First two classes: 10am – 12:30 pm Last class: 10am – 3pm.

   Saturdays: 6/11, 6/18 (10–12:30pm) & 6/25 (10–3pm)

   Saturdays: 7/9, 7/16 (10–12:30pm) & 7/23 (10–3pm) (Class Cancelled)

   Saturdays: 9/17, 9/24 (10–12:30pm) & 10/1 (10–3pm)

Class is $100 plus supplies

Intermediate Sewing

Intermediate Sewing Class




Choose a pattern of your choice with approval from the instructor and learn how to insert a zipper, darts, set in sleeves, collars and waistbands. Limit your project to a fitted skirt, a simple dress or an unlined jacket.

Prerequisite for this class is Basic Sewing

 Saturdays:  (10:30am – 1:00pm) 

         10/15, 10/22, 10/29, and 11/5

Class is $100 plus supplies.

Learn how to make a warm coat for your pet dog we will teach you have to measure him and fit the coat to perfection he will be warm and dry when cold and rainy weather arrives.

Have fun learning to machine sew.  You'll enjoy making a one-of-a-kind decorative pillow for your bed. Project is designed to develop sewing skills.

Kids Sewing 

Kids Sewing Class_Whimsical Pillow


Students will continue to develop sewing skills while creating a character pillows. Children will have fun picking out their colors of fabric to create a one of a kind pillow, they can call their own creation. Students taking this class maybe new to sewing or have some experience.

My First Quilt - for Kids

Kids Quilting Class


Students will learn how to cut and sew a quilt top, to add batting and backing to complete a lap quilt with there choice of colors and fabrics. Class = 5 Sessions.

Class open to 8 – 12 Year-Olds.  

         Sundays: 7/3, 7/10, 7/17, 7/24  and 7/31. (10:30am – 12:30pm)

OR   Sundays: 9/3, 9/10, 9/17, 9/24 and 10/1. (10:30am – 12:30pm)

Kids 4-Day Camp
 – Age 10 and Up

Kids Sewing Camp


This is a kids class for those interested in learning to sew. Open to ages 10 to 15 yrs. Class is 12 hours of instruction and includes fabric kits. Machine 1 is a prerequisite. Basic sewing supplies (scissors, pins, fabric markers, etc) are the responsibility of each student.

Sessions are: Mondays – Thursdays. Choose from sessions below.

        Session 1:  7/11 7/12, 7/13 and 7/14.  (10:30am – 1:30pm)

OR  Session 2:  8/15, 8/16, 8/17 and 8/18. (10:30am – 1:30pm)

Westalee Free Motion Ruler Classes: Quilt as you go Sampler Quilt

Westalee Free Motion Ruler Classes


Leonie West has designed these amazing rulers and the ruler foot for your machine to make free motion quilting easy and precise. With the ruler foot and the Sampler Template Set 1 you can create a beautiful sampler quilt one block at a time.

Classes will be held on a monthly basis and require the purchase of the Westalee Design Ruler Foot for your machine and the Sampler Template Set 1 along with the fabrics, batting and threads.

The program will run 10 months - dates will be added once we get started.

We invite you to our Oakland Gardens location to see this quilt in person and be amazed how beautiful it is.

This beautiful quilt is a joy to stitch out. Each block is unique and you will learn new techniques each month. Quick to stitch out, the average time is about 30 minutes per block. Embroidery machine is required with at least a 5” square embroidery area. You can make 5”, 6”, 7”, 8” or 9” blocks depending on your embroidery machine.

Dates: Mondays: 7/18, 8/15, 9/19, 10/17, 11/21 and 12/19
           (6:00pm – 8:30pm)

Fee:  $125 Includes embroidery designs and instructions.

Block of the Month Embroidered Quilt – "Hearts Afire Plus"

Edge to Edge Quilt Class


Photo above reflects the overall design of the quilt. Images to the right relfect the details and the different color schemes that can be applied to this design. 

If you own an embroidery machine with a hoop you can make this beautiful appliqué quilt that measures 80” x 80” square during this 8 month program.

All embroidery files are available in all machine formats. This is not a quilt as you go project. The quilt top is assembled once the blocks are embroidered. Then you can layer and quilt it.

Fee: $160 includes design fee and instructions (please reserve spot so designs can be ordered) plus supplies

Dates: 2/8, 3/7, 4/4, 5/2, 6/6, 7/11, 8/22 and 9/12

We held a full-day beginner's class on January 31. The students found the class to be most helpful for their quilting and digiitzing work. READ their responses.  We found that students get more out of One-on-one sessions then a group class environment.
