Learn the fundamentals of using a sewing machine while making a simple throw pillow. No sewing experience is necessary. Sewing machines available or bring your own, start on the right foot. Choose from the following dates.

Beginner’s Basic Alterations Class

Supply List:
- Something to be altered (optional but recommended)
- Tailor’s chalk
- 1 box straight pins

This class will introduce you to the world of altering your own personal clothing. Learn how to do your own alterations. Save money! Skills learned will include shortening and lengthening hems or sleeves, and taking something in. Learn how to fit your clothing to your body. Students are welcome to bring in their own clothes that need altering.

Pencil Skirt

Supply List:
- 1 to 2 yards of woven fabric (depending on your size), no stripes, checks or plaids
- Matching thread
- 1 regular zipper to match your fabric
- 1 box straight pins
- 1 pair fabric shears
- 1 pair paper scissors
- Measuring tape
- Ruler

Learn how to make a pencil skirt that fits you perfectly! Some sewing machine experience required, beginners are welcome. Learn how to take proper measurements, put in a zipper and sew darts. Complete your skirt to perfection. This is one skirt you can wear all the time!

Basic Sewing 1

Learn how to layout a pattern, read a pattern and sew a simple skirt and top in this basic sewing class. Machine 1 is a prerequisite. Choose from the following dates. Each session is 2 (5-hour) classes from 10:30am – 3:30pm.

Intermediate Sewing

Choose from the following dates. Basic Sewing 1 is a prerequisite. Bring in a pattern of your choice for approval of the instructor and then work on your custom project with the instructor’s help. Explore zipper insertion, button holes, and set in sleeves.

Class is $100 plus supplies. Fabric and notions need to be purchased in store. 

Each session is 2 (5-hour) classes (10:30am – 3:30pm)

- ½ yard outer fabric

Quilting on the Long Arm Quilter and Frame Orientation Class

Learn how to use out long arm quilting machine from loading the quilt onto the frame to doing free motion stitching or programming the automated robot.

Class is 2 hours long for $65 - includes a credit towards one hour free when you rent the machine to do your quilt.

Folk Art Quilt – October

In the dictionary, Folk Art is defined as paintings and decorative objects made in a naive style, obviously the dictionary did not know about quilters! You will be designing your own Folk Art Still /Life Wall hanging There will be different samples of this quilt in the class. I believe folk art is colorful and intuitive. This class is improvisational piecing. No templates etc. The class is designing your own piece and learning the techniques I use to make my folk art quilts quickly.

Still Life  Quilt – October

RAW EDGE APPLIQUE –STILL LIFE – TERESA'S WAY, by Teresa Fusco: This is the basis of 85% of my quilts. Using fabric as your pallet, create a free form vase with flowers, table and walls behind it. No templates learn to freehand cut flowers, leaves, tendrils, buds etc while designing your wall hanging. Have something interesting to add? Buttons? Trinkets? Use some of the things you have been collecting! You will really enjoy the freedom of this class, all levels.

Negative / Positive Quilt – November

This class will concentrate on Thread Stitches and Color. We will be making (4) 8” square negative positive blocks, these blocks are made very fast so we have most of the day to explore your machine stitch capabilities. At home I have (9) blocks that I hang in Andy Warhol fashion! If you have a knee lift control for your machine or machine extension table - it will come in very handy in this class.

Hoopsisters Jacobean Journey Embroidery Block of the Month. Use your embroidery machine to make an entire quilt in your 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 inch hoop. The quilting was digitized by Master Quilter, Sharon Schamber. Quilt can be a Lap up to a King size bed. Also smaller project of a table runner can be made to get your appetite wetted.
